Childhood obesity is a condition where excess adipose (body fat) negatively affects a child's health or well-being. Diagnoses is usually based on body mass index and waist circumference. According to CDC between 1980-2013, the prevalence of obese or overweight children has doubled in the United States. Due to the worldwide prevalence of obesity among children and its many adverse health effects it is being recognized as a serious public health concern. Overweight children often suffer emotional and physical health issues. They are often teased by family and bullied by peers. In additional to emotional trauma, being overweight places children at high risk for chronic diseases such as diabetes, hypertension, heart disease, autoimmune, and Iper. Research show that children who help plant, pick, and prepare food are more likely to eat what they plant, pick or help prepare.
